Reasons to lie
In afternoon time today,my bro was asking for the remaining one last piece of gulabjamun,I know it was in small little tiffin box in one corner of fridge surrounded by other bigger tiffin boxes so it won’t be visible to anybody else{ coz I had kept it there}.while my mom was going to get a look in fridge for it,I instantly replied “no no its finished”.
After they both had left our dining room I took it out ,and slurped it in one time, still my eyes were searching’ is anybody looking at me?’.in mind was happy to hv that last piece of tasty sweet, but in heart there was some guilt I had lied.
Why did I lied for such a small thing, may be it was my greed for that.in day to day life there r so many different situations we try to lie.
Was thinking for reasons we lie and found
We all lie, but why do we lie? Sure, lying is both useful and sometimes even fun, yet there are fundamental reasons why we lie.
These main reasons are:
- Fear of harm: The easiest reason to understand why we lie is for self protection, including self deception, to prevent harm to ourselves. This harm can be either physical or mental.
- Fear of conflict: To some degree, we all fear having an argument.
- Fear of punishment: When growing up, how often did we lie about how well we did in school, or who started a fight? How often do we cover up our mistakes and transgressions?
- Fear of rejection: Sometimes, our insecurities are the foundation of why we lie to each other, because we want to be remain popular in our relationships. Typically, it is harmless boasting to make ourselves appear more admirable to other people.
- Fear of loss: This is usually the loss of personal objects, such as money or expensive valuables. Greed is the foundation for this reason and can be found in each of us. We often lie to make ourselves more desirable to other people too. Most common, people lie for fear of losing an opportunity to have sex. Other times, when our self esteem starts to decline, we even lie to ourselves as means to prevent loss of morale.
- Altruistic Reasons: We often lie to help our friends and loved ones. How often do we flattery someone just to make them feel better? This is the only selfless reason why we lie.
Despite all the technical reasons why people lie, it all boils down to this:
The fundamental reason why people lie is because it mostly works.
And because lying has become more understood in today’s society, lying has become more acceptable. It has sometimes even become an admirable and useful social skill.
That is the Truth about Lies.
Some helpful hints for the truthfully inclined:
- Lie only when it is absolutely necessary. Never lie for fun. A reputation for honesty will make even a clumsy lie seem more believable.
- Keep your lies simple. Resist the urge to tell a huge, entertaining story; instead, diverge from the truth as little as possible while still serving your purpose. Not only will it be more believable, but you'll find it easier to keep your story straight afterwards.
- Change the subject afterwards. Ask lots of questions. Don't give them time to think; rather, just let them file away your (false) information and hurry on to the next topic.
This was what I could found.
From all this lastly I just thought and made up my mind for was
LIE IS NEVER LIE IF IT HELPS ANYONE
TRUTH THAT HURTS PEOPLE IS WORST THAN LIE.
May be by saying this I was saving myself from guilt of eating that last piece of gulabjamun or from a guilt that I lied.
God u have given me everything
For my needs to satisfy
But I cn’t make a final promise
That I won’t search for
Other reasons to lie.
Do u remember my ilander friends last time u had lied J
